Milestone Targets Season 2015-16
Statistics don’t always tell the full story but they go a long way in determining the performance of cricketers in terms of their playing record, their consistency, their dedication and their commitment to the club and to their teams.Statistics also provide a measure of incentive for players to achieve certain goals and milestones. They also create a great level of interest for followers of the game and of the club.
Since the release of the 2014-15 Annual Report the Sydney Cricket Association Committee has decided that statistics from Twenty20 competitions over the past few years which had not previously been included in player’s records would in fact, now be included. This has meant a revision of the records of those 1st Grade players who participated in these games to bring them up-to-date. The addition of these statistics has resulted in some players already achieving particular milestones. The SCA Committee has also decided that statistics emanating from 1st Grade limited-overs competitions between 1967 and 1988 should also form part of the records of players who participated at that time. These figures are yet to be extracted and will be added in the months ahead. None of the players involved in those competitions are currently playing so these figures will add to their career record.
Life Member and former CEO Ray Stafford has spent countless hours in putting together a complete list of all statistics for all players in all grades since Randwick Petersham started in 2001. This has given us an opportunity to identify a number of milestones and to raise a number of targets which otherwise would never have been possible.
With those points in mind, there are certain milestones which could be achieved by a number of players this season.
The following is a list of prospective milestones as at the start of this season which are sure to be followed with interest as the summer rolls on.
