Barry McCarthy Ireland Debut

Barry has certainly performed well following his time with the Randy Petes last season. Not only did he take his maiden First Class 5 wicket haul Durham CCC v Lancashire, he also debuted in the Natwest T20 Blast.

Barry has certainly performed well following his time with the Randy Petes last season. Not only did he take his maiden First Class 5 wicket haul Durham CCC v Lancashire, he also debuted in the Natwest T20 Blast.

To cap these performances he was rewarded with his senior international debut for Ireland in a One Day Series versus Sri Lanka during June and didn’t disappoint with 4 wickets total. In the second match Baz was on a hat-trick too.

July saw Baz add to his recent Ireland caps after being named in the squad to face Afghanistan in 5 match ODI Series in Belfast. He was joined by Peter Chase who trained with the Randy Petes in January as part of his injury rehab.

Both have also been rewarded with selection in the Intercontinental Cup squad to face Hong Kong in early September and will tour South Africa at the end of September for One Day Internationals against Australia and South Africa.

Great to see the success of the Randy Petes Official Overseas Scholarship Programme partnership emerging from Year 1 and we look forward with anticipation to Year 2.

The Randy Petes partnership with Cricket Ireland places the club as the only Sydney Premier Club to be officially linked with an International team.

This partnership provides a young up and coming Irish cricketer with the opportunity to further develop his skills in Australian conditions each season.

We at the Randy Petes are #AlwaysBackingGreen and hope to see Cricket Ireland fulfil their goal of playing Test Cricket.
