Phil Rothfield wrote in the Sunday Telegraph: “One of the top female cricketers in NSW is now playing against men in Sydney grade cricket. Carly Leeson is in the NSW Breakers women’s team and Sydney Sixers Women’s Big Bash League team that recently won the national title. Last weekend she made her debut playing for Randwick Petersham’s fifth grade team against St George.” The story went on to quote Club President Mike Whitney saying: “Carly has now carved herself a place in the rich and proud history of our club. We see her as the first of many girls and women who will take Randwick Petersham into the future as a cricket club committed to diversity and equality. We want to foster and support the stunning rise of women’s cricket. At or T20 Blast for kids recently we had 47 children registered, and 29 were girls.”
