In First Grade Ben Mitchell and Shivansh Pathak became Capped Players 141 and 142 respectively while Manish Malhotra debuted for the Randy Petes against his former club in 2nd Grade with 88 at the top of the order and was strongly supported by Burton 78 and Docos 50.
Lefand Group 1st Grade @ Allan Border Oval
Randwick Petersham 8/194 (50 overs) Gaur 34, T.Affleck 32* def by Mosman 2/198 (26 overs)
Randwick Petersham Cricket’s 1st Grade team experienced first-hand the form of Peter Forrest which produced 238 runs, including 104 against Sri Lanka, in the first four of his 15 One Day Internationals for Australia in 2012.
Playing for Mosman at Allan Border Oval in the season Limited Overs opener, the 35-year-old thrashed the attack to finish with 84* off 81 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes.
His performance saw Mosman rattle up 2-198 to take the match in just 26 overs, earning a bonus point in the process.
Earlier, the Randy Petes bats had struggled against a persistent attack to post a below-par score of 8-194 off its 50 overs.
And while eight bats got into double figures, none went on to any sizeable total with Puru Gaur the best, hitting 35 off 42 balls while Tim Affleck made 32 off 64.
Of the bowlers, Jason Ralston (1-46 off 4 overs) and club debutant Ben Mitchell (1-39 off 4) were the wicket-takers.
Lyall Gardner OAM
Suttons City Rosebery 2nd Grade @ Coogee Oval
Randwick Petersham 9/270 (50 overs) Malhotra 88, Burton 78, Docos 50 def by Mosman 6/275 (50 overs) Hussain 2/46, Burton 2/52
Second Grade were treated to a spectacular day at Coogee Oval to begin their season and were asked to field first on a pitch that would no doubt yield runs.
The Mosman innings ebbed and flowed, with both sides earning, and subsequently losing momentum throughout the innings, however Mosman batted well enough to post a score of 275, and whilst it was a significant score, such was the quality of the pitch that it looked an achievable target for the batting unit.
Akther Hussain – in his first 2nd Grade game – took 2 wickets and along with 2 to Ashley Burton, were the most successful of the bowlers.
Unfortunately, the side fell 5 runs short, scoring an admirable 270, highlighted by 88 to Manish Maholtra in his debut for the club, and fifties for Adam Docos (50) and Ashley Burton (75) who rounded off a strong individual day by almost getting the side home.

Next Saturday, all 5 Grades play Manly-Warringah with 1st Grade at Coogee while Metro Cup face Hawkesbury and North West Sydney Maroon.
