Round 5 NSW Premier Cricket & Metro Cup 2021-22 Round Preview

Round 5 v Campbelltown-Camden, Blacktown & Georges River
Round 4 Twenty20 Cup & PGs v Mosman

It’s a big PETERSHAM OVAL weekend of cricket coming up! On Saturday the 5 grades play Campbelltown-Camden in a round of 50-overs-a-side match commencing at 10 am with 1st Grade at Petersham. In Metropolitan Cup, we Blacktown Mounties (Saturday) and Georges River (Sunday).  Also on Sunday, a T20 double-header at Petersham v Mosman with round 4 of the Kingsgrove Sports Twenty20 Cup commencing at 2.30pm after the PGs (under 21), play at 10 am.
Another wet weekend last round with no lower grades getting on. A big win to 1st Grade on the Sunday puts them on top in their division of the Twenty2- Cup competition while the loss to St George on Saturday saw the side drop to 10th, just one win out of 5th, so no real drama at this stage. We are now 11th in the Club Championship.

Jason Sangha

1st GRADE is at Petersham Oval on Saturday: Campbelltown-Camden are struggling this season with them yet to register a point. Over the years we have played them 6 times in limited overs matches with the results even at 3 all. We have won one and lost one at Petersham.  We lost to them 3 years ago at Raby, 6-163cc to 4-166 in a 28 overs-per-side match, after a storm the night before. We won outright 2 years ago in a 2-day match. We didn’t play them last season. Jason Sangha and Dan Sams are unavailable this weekend, being on Big Bash duty with Sydney Thunder.  After 9 seasons, over 2,000 runs and more than 50 wickets, 25 year old Ash Burton will make his 1st Grade debut this Saturday. Welcome 1st Grade cap number 144!
1st Grade is at Petersham on Sunday for the Twenty20 Cup clash with Mosman at 2.30pm: This is LEGENDS DAY and we would love to see as many of our 106 Legends members there! Also a chance to show off your new LEGENDS shirts and caps!! Mosman are undefeated this season and are on fire!  They gave us a towelling in the first game, 8-194cc to 2-198 when Peter Forrest hitting 84* off 81 balls. That was a limited overs match, but this one is a Twenty20 where we have a record of 5 wins to 2 over them. A bit of cheering from the sideline will certainly fire up our boys, so BE THERE! Ryan Ninan, Manish Malhotra and Jackson Eldridge come into the side.

All matches from Petersham will be livestreamed this weekend. – go to Match Centre and search for the match.

Ash Burton to debut

2nd Grade is at Raby 1 (Campbelltown): We are 16th and The Ghosts are 17th. No good making the trek out there for no points so a bit of determination should do the trick. We have a record of 7 wins to 3 with 6 draws over them. Their last win against us was on this ground in 2011-12, 275 to 259. Jackson Gwynne makes his debut with the club.

Dave Dubey

3rd Grade is at Coogee: The team still leads the comp after only 2 matches got on last weekend. Campbelltown is 8th. Our record is 7 wins to 5 with 4 drawn. We have won the last 3 clashes.

Kel Mullins & Tom Hollandd v Campbelltown-Camden

4th Grade is at Raby 2 (Campbelltown): They are 14th and we are 16th. Neither side has won a match as yet this season. Let’s hope it is us to break the deadlock! We have won the past 2 matches while they won the previous 4. Our record overall is better—7 wins to 4 with 6 draws.

Liam O’Loughlin

5th Grade is at Kensington Oval: They are 4th and we are 18th. Time to start chalking up some points and this could be it.

Damian Sidney

Metropolitan Cup. Gold will play Blacktown Mounties at Snape on Saturday and Green plays Georges River at Coogee on Sunday. The Gold team will be chomping at the bit to get back on the park, having had the last two matches washed out. With their game having reverted to Saturday, a number of rep cricketers will be available and ready to challenge the visitors from the west. Thomas ‘Little Gibbo’ Gibson bowled with pace and menace to help set  up Green’s win against Hawkesbury last week and will be looking to continue turning up the heat for Gold. Green will head to the seaside resort at Coogee Oval to take on Georges River, and will want to build on their momentum from the previous weekend following a bonus point win. E-Young ‘Pingu’ Khoo has been in the runs and wickets this season so far, and will soon be bashing down the door for higher honours.

Asif Rasheed

Poidevin-Gray is at Petersham Oval on SUNDAY from 10am: A disappointing start to the season with 2 losses. Mosman are equal leaders on points. We need to bring our A Game. It is the curtain-raiser to the T20 match at 2.30pm.
