Round 12 NSW Premier Cricket v Bankstown 2021-22 Preview & Kingsgrove Sports T20 GF

& Metro Cup v Blacktown and Mosman

In the original draw, Bankstown weren’t on our list. However, with the difficulty in fielding the same players over successive weekends due to COVID, two of the three two day matches originally scheduled have been converted into limited overs games. This has the effect of expanding the competition from 15 rounds to 17. All matches start at 10 am on Saturday. But the big match this weekend is on SUNDAY when we play the GRAND FINAL of the TWENTY20 CUP.
In terms of our record against Bankstown, we have played them 94 times across the 5 grades over the past 20 seasons and have an excellent record, winning 50, losing 35 with one tied and 8 drawn. Our 5th Grade is the best performer having beaten the Bulldogs 13 out of 18 completed matches. We need to win like we did last weekend with at least 4 victories, if we are to improve our Club Championship position from 11th. Bankstown are 8th but only 35 points ahead of us. In Metropolitan Cup cricket, our Green and Gold teams play Blacktown Mounties and Mosman respectively.
THIS SUNDAY 6 FEBRUARY: It’s the GRAND FINAL of the Kingsgrove Sports Twenty20 Cup against Sydney University at UNIVERSITY OVAL from 2-30 pm.
Sunday is the BIG DAY!! It’s the GRAND FINAL of the Kingsgrove Sports Twenty20 Cup when Randwick Petersham takes on Sydney University at UNIVERSITY OVAL from 2-30 pm. This is a competition we have excelled in over the years, winning three times. Two of those wins were against Sydney University. One at University Oval. We are chasing a hat-trick against them.
Can we do it? Our record says we can, having won 50 out of the 68 matches in this competition since it began in 2009-10.
This will be the 4th time we have played a T20 match against Sydney University with our record 2 wins (both Grand Finals) to 1. Our record at University Oval is good as well, with 6 wins from 10 matches over our 20 years. There have been some spectacular matches in this competition this season and Sunday’s game promises to be another. What we need is plenty of supporters at the ground to cheer on the team.
See you there!!

SATURDAY: 1st Grade is at Bankstown: With 7 wins in a row, we are well placed in 3rd spot on the points ladder just 8 behind leader ND and 5 from second-placed Mosman. Bankstown is a little off the boil this season running 13th and losing 3 of its last 5 matches. We have won 5 of 8 at Bankstown Oval against them, but historically, the record is 9 wins apiece with one match tied in 2007-08. Our best win against them was in 2013-14 when we ended with 0-165 chasing 164. The record 10 wicket win was courtesy of 80* from Rory Burns and 75* from Nick Stapleton. Last season in the Limited Overs Quarter Final we won in the final over 5-255 chasing 7cc-251. Never underestimate the wounded Bulldog. A win this Saturday would be a NEW RECORD for 1st Grade with 8 straight wins.

2nd Grade is at Coogee: With 4 losses in a row, the side is struggling in 15th place and out of contention for a finals berth. Not being able to win the close games has been the problem. We have beaten Bankstown 10 times to their 6 with 4 wins to 2 at Coogee. While the historic record favours us, they will be tough as they are in 7th place on the points ladder.

3rd Grade is at Kelso Park North, Milperra: Bankstown are 2nd and we are 10th. This will be tough. Historically, its 8 wins each while they beat us last season in the first match we have played at Kelso Park. We are only 5 points out of 6th place but will need to perform well to get the chocolates.

4th Grade is at Kensington: We are 11th and they are 15th with just 2 points separating the sides. We HAVE TO WIN. No ifs and buts. We have won 10 to their 7 historically, and while they gave us a hiding last season by 8 wickets, we won the previous 3 clashes.

5th Grade is at Grahame Thomas, Bankstown: We have won 13 to their 5 over the years although they beat us by 12 runs at Grahame Thomas Oval last season. We are now in 6th place while the Bulldogs are 16th. A must win match if we are to continue our march for a finals spot. Everything to play for.
