Preview Round 4 v Wests, Rd 2 PGs v Mosman and Metro Cup Round 4 v Syd Uni & Mosman 2023-24

We are leading in the Club Championship! We have 351 points to be 21 in front of St George (330) with Western Suburbs, our opponents this weekend, on 304. Bankstown, UTS Norths and Gordon are next in line. Our 5 wins last Saturday against Hawkesbury was the 19th time we have won all grades in a round and the second time against Hawkesbury. Those 5 wins brought us 126 Club Championship points, one of our best-ever rounds.

It has been an outstanding start to the 2023-24 season for the club with 1st Grade already cementing a spot in the Twenty20 Cup semi-final to be played at Coogee on SUNDAY 29 OCTOBER from 2.30pm against Fairfield-Liverpool. There have also been many brilliant individual performances. In the first four weekends of play, we have scored 8 centuries while 7 bowlers have taken 5 wickets or more in an innings with Lachlan Skelly, in just 3 games in 3rd Grade, doing the business twice with returns of 5-37 in round 1 and 6-31 last Saturday. Ryan Di Blasio also returned 5-29 for RP Green last Saturday to get the Metro Cup boys into the act as well.

This Saturday we have two-day PREMIER CRICKET matches against WESTERN SUBURBS in ALL GRADES. 1st and 2nd grades start at 10 am and the lowers from 12 noon.

1st Grade is @ Coogee: With 2 wins from 2 rounds, we are in 4th place on the ladder. Wests are one win behind in 7th possie. Historically, we have a great record against them winning the past 6 with one drawn. We defeated them in a T20 match last month. They are firing this season so this will be an even contest.

2nd Grade is @ Pratten Park: Good to see our boys get off the mark last round with a good win. Wests have won two and are in 8th place. It will be a tough match. History show that Wests 2nds have been a problem for us as we last beat them in 2015-16. They have won 5 times since with one match drawn.

3rd Grade is @ Petersham: Three wins on the trot and we are 2nd in the competition, just one point behind UTS North Sydney. Wests have also had three wins and are in 6th place one point behind us on a jammed leaderboard. The side has had a century maker in each of the three matches played and another this round would be more than handy. Our past four clashes have produced 3 losses and a draw. Time to set the record straight.

4th Grade is @ Blick: Wests are leading the comp. and we are one win behind in 6th spot. Over the years we have won more than we have lost against them but this will be a real test.

5th Grade is @ Kensington: We lead the competition! Wests are 7th with 2 wins so this will be a tight one. We have only beaten them once in the past 5 clashes with one drawn.

Our METROPOLITAN CUP matches this weekend are two-day matches from 12 noon each day.

RPC Gold plays Sydney Uni. Gold at Camperdown over the next two Saturdays. For the majority of the team this will be a new ground to play at but nothing will change, and with confidence high, they’ll be looking to add another win this season.

RPC Green plays Mosman at Petersham over the next two SUNDAYS after spending 3 weeks at Marrickville and with three of the narrowest losses they’ll be gunning for a win over the Whales.

POIDEVIN-GRAY: Our defending premiers play Mosman at Allan Border Oval, Mosman, THIS SUNDAY at 10 am. It’s a 50 overs per side match. This will be the 8th time we have played Mosman in a PGs fixture. The record is 4 wins to us and 3 to them. While we had a good win in the first round, they smashed Sydney, scoring 5-321 in their 50 overs. They then knocked over Sydney for 177, so they are obviously a good side. We will need to be on our mettle on Sunday, but our tails are up and hungry for the win!

GO THE RANDY PETES!!!!
